Summary
Serpico serves as Farnese’s devoted companion and secret paternal half-brother, a fact hidden from her knowledge. During his tenure with the Holy See, he held the position of Herald for the Holy Iron Chain Knights. Though he possesses a meek appearance, Serpico reveals a cunning and swift nature akin to a fox when aggressive, utilizing his sharp observations and rapier skills in combat. His deep affection for Farnese persists despite the trauma of her childhood abuse and her role in forcing him to burn his own mother at the stake. He has served her loyally since she discovered him beaten and abandoned on a snowy street more than ten years ago. His dynamic with Guts has historically been defined by hostility, largely stemming from the perilous circumstances Guts brings to those within his Band. Following a duel in the underground pillars of Vritannis, where Guts spared his life, their relationship improved, allowing Serpico to eventually trust Guts to protect Farnese in his absence. To fight alongside Guts, Serpico wields two artifacts blessed by the wind spirit Sylph: a rapier capable of unleashing razor-sharp wind gusts, and a cloak that creates a protective vortex to deflect projectiles, aid in jumping, and cushion falls from significant heights.
