Tezuka's Phoenix Rises in Stunning New English Deluxe Edition

Kodansha USA made waves at Anime Expo 2026 with word that Osamu Tezuka's ambitious epic Phoenix will finally return in a proper English deluxe edition next spring. Long considered the creator's defining work, the series has been largely unavailable in English for years, leaving fans eager for a fresh, high-quality take.
The new edition features a large-format clothbound hardcover with screen-printed and gold foil-stamped details. Restorers drew on a 2020 Japanese edition to faithfully recapture the look of the original serialization in Tezuka's COM magazine, complete with recovered color pages and bonus material never offered in prior English releases.
The first volume will collect the opening stories "Dawn" and "Future," clocking in at roughly 670 pages with updated lettering from the original Dadakai translation team. Spring 2027 marks the debut, giving collectors a substantial new centerpiece for their shelves.
The Phoenix news arrived as part of a wider Kodansha print slate that also includes a prose story collection set in the Witch Hat Atelier world and a comprehensive CLAMP color artbook. For longtime readers, these releases represent a meaningful step in keeping Tezuka's visionary legacy alive and accessible.
