Studio Flad, WAO WORLD Announce Yankee-kun Staff, Dual 2027 Teasers

Studio Flad and WAO WORLD are now officially sharing the 2027 television adaptation of Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun, Naruki’s Bessatsu Friend rom-com also known in English as Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent. The production site posted the co-studio credit alongside the first real staff slate, turning April’s bare anime announcement into a working pipeline with a calendar year attached.

Makoto Hoshino will direct, coming off idol work such as Uta no Prince-sama: Maji LOVE 2000% and the ensemble comedy The Four of Us Are Lying. Series composition sits with Megumi Shimizu, whose recent credits include Uchi no Otouto-domo ga Sumimasen, while Ruriko Watanabe — last widely seen on Banished from the Hero’s Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside — is designing the cast. Voice roles are still unannounced.

The same drop served two opposing teaser visuals and a promo that slams them together. One still leans into Hiro Momose and Dan Ichikura pressed close; the other stacks the delinquent circle into a wall of intimidation, matching the campaign line that falling for a former yankee is never a quiet ride. Fans on X immediately clocked how close the new animation stills sit to Naruki’s manga linework.

Hoshino’s posted note promised to keep the source’s “very good atmosphere”: the boy who thinks glasses make him look serious, the girl whose inner monologue is almost always rude, and the panic of catching feelings for the scariest guy in junior high. Kodansha’s series, now past a million copies and eleven volumes, still has no month inside 2027 — only a studio pairing that now has names, faces, and a first look.
