'Strange Pictures' Horror Manga Ends July 21

The manga adaptation of Uketsu’s bestselling psychological horror novel Strange Pictures (Henna E) will conclude its run in the next issue of Futabasha’s Manga Action magazine on July 21.
Artist Kikō Aiba has illustrated the story since its debut in spring 2024, first on Comic CMOA and later across Manga Action and Web Action. The series entered its final arc last November. Nine seemingly innocent childlike sketches form the spine of the narrative, each hiding dire warnings, cryptic messages, and clues to unsolved crimes that pull characters into a web of dread and fractured minds.
Uketsu, the enigmatic masked author whose debut novel sold millions and earned translations in over thirty languages, sees the manga version wrap up as Titan Manga prepares to ship its first English volume on July 14. The publisher positions the adaptation as ideal for fans of Junji Ito-style terror, where the ordinary turns macabre.
With four collected volumes already released in Japan, the conclusion offers readers a complete tale in both languages. The ending arrives at a moment when visual, puzzle-driven horror continues to resonate strongly across the otaku scene.
