Ninth Jedi Locks Japanese Cast as Ōmori Joins as Masked Commander

The Force gets a sharper Japanese voice bench. Production I.G and Lucasfilm have locked a wider Japanese cast for Star Wars: Visions Presents - The Ninth Jedi, the eight-episode limited anime that spins the fan-favorite Visions short into a full-series hunt for a missing sabersmith father.

Chinatsu Akasaki and Shinichiro Miki return as Lah Kara and her father Lah Zhima, while acclaimed actor Nao Ōmori steps in as Nawam—a black-masked commander who channels pure Vader menace yet wields a blue blade. Fresh names also include Maaya Sakamoto as the Bibin ruler who holds secrets from Zhima’s past, Hiroshi Naka as a planetary lord Kara meets on the road, and Nobuyuki Hiyama as a coal miner who dreams of walking the Jedi path.

Supervising director Kenji Kamiyama and director Shunsuke Tada helm the Production I.G production, which picks up after the original short and Child of Hope. All episodes hit Disney+ (and Hulu in the U.S.) on August 5, 2026, streaming in Japan and the U.S. the same day—so lightsaber fans won’t have to wait for a region gap to meet this expanded fellowship.
