Naruto Live-Action Film Opens Global Casting Call for Team 7

The highly anticipated live-action Naruto film is taking a major step forward. Lionsgate and director Destin Daniel Cretton have launched a global casting search for the lead roles of Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno. Casting for additional characters will come later as the project ramps up pre-production.

Cretton, the visionary behind Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is writing and directing the adaptation. "Kishimoto-sensei’s stories have inspired generations of fans around the world, and it’s an honor to bring his world and characters to the big screen in live action for the very first time," he said. "I’m thrilled to kick off this worldwide casting search for our Team 7 and to bring the incredible universe of Naruto to life!"

Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto shared his own sense of wonder at the development. "Right now, miracles are happening to me, one after another. My work, ‘Naruto,’ is truly, truly becoming a Hollywood movie! And an even greater miracle is that the film will be directed by the one and only Destin Daniel Cretton," Kishimoto stated. He expressed excitement about meeting the actors who will embody his beloved characters.

The manga has sold over 250 million copies across more than 60 countries, cementing its status as a cornerstone of modern pop culture. Producers from Arad Productions and others are attached, bringing experience from major franchises to the table.

With this open call, fans everywhere have a chance to see the ninja world translated to live action in a way that honors its roots while reaching new audiences. The search for the right talent to carry the spirit of Team 7 is officially on.
