Mii-chan and Miss Yamada Ends Its Two-Year Run With Volume 7

Kodansha confirmed over the weekend that Nene Azuki's Mii-chan and Miss Yamada has reached the end of its Magazine Pocket serialization. Chapter 37 is now live as the finale, and the seventh compiled volume — regular and deluxe editions alike — is locked for a September 9 release in Japan, closing a run that began in September 2024.
Set in Shinjuku's nightlife around 2012, the drama follows veteran hostess Yamada and the clumsy, fiercely motivated newcomer known as Mii-chan as an unlikely year of work and friendship takes shape in a world that rarely makes room for either of them. Print and digital circulation has already passed three million copies, an unusual mark for a series that only shipped its sixth volume in April.
The title placed fourth on the male-readers list in Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2026 and was nominated in the General category of the 50th Kodansha Manga Awards. Seven Seas Entertainment will publish the first English edition on December 8, so international readers are only just lining up at the start.
A television anime remains scheduled for 2027, which means the story is moving from the weekly feed to the screen rather than disappearing. The official account used the final update to thank readers who spent two years on this night shift — and Azuki, who poured everything into seeing it through.
