This anime television series and manga comic book was created by manga artist Go Nagai, functioning as a direct continuation of the highly popular Mazinger Z series. It premiered in Japan in 1974, immediately following the conclusion of the original Mazinger series.

This film celebrates the 45th anniversary of the original Mazinger Z series. Ten years have passed since those events. Humanity now faces a new destiny. Long ago, humanity stood on the brink of annihilation at the hands of the evil scientist Dr. Hell and his underground empire. Kouji Kabuto, his super robot Mazinger Z, and his allies at the Photon Power Laboratory crushed Dr. Hell's wicked schemes and restored peace to the world. A decade later, Kouji has followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, now walking the path of a scientist. He discovers a mysterious life form hidden within a colossal structure buried deep beneath Mt. Fuji. A new encounter, a new threat, and a new fate await humanity. And Kouji, once a hero, must make a choice for the future. It can be a god or a demon. Once again, the future is entrusted to Mazinger Z.

Background

Mazinger Z Movie: Infinity made its worldwide premiere in Italian theaters on October 31, 2017, followed by France on November 22. It opened in theaters in Japan on January 13, 2018.
