Sonny Boy

Synopsis

Thirty-six students and their school are suddenly transported into an infinite void. As some of them start manifesting supernatural abilities, a divide grows among the group, driven by a sense of alienation. The student council attempts to enforce order, but the empowered students push back against the rigid control. In the midst of this conflict, they learn that this strange dimension has its own set of rules essential for survival. When one student takes a bold action, the school shifts to yet another dimension. To cope with the trials and conditions of each new world, the students must uncover the truth behind their predicament and find a way back to their original world.

Background

Sonny Boy is based on an original story written by director Shingo Natsume who previously had his hand in directing shows such as One Punch Man and Space Dandy. Winner of the Excellence Award at the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival.
