Synopsis
Yatora Yaguchi is a second-year high school student who maintains good grades and sports a delinquent appearance, yet internally he struggles with uncertainty about his future. He drifts through his daily routine alongside similarly unmotivated friends, though he secretly yearns for something more meaningful. After being deeply moved by a striking scene in Shibuya, Yatora picks up a brush to paint and capture his emotions. Encouraged by the praise his work receives, he sets his sights on the highly competitive Tokyo University of the Arts, an institution that accepts only one applicant out of every two hundred. In pursuing this new goal, Yatora confronts significant hurdles: rivaling talented peers with extensive experience, grappling with his own limited background in fine arts, and navigating his parents' disapproval. To secure a spot in his chosen program, he must demonstrate that his lack of formal art education is not a barrier to his success.
Background
Netflix Japan aired each episode one week in advance of the TV premiere starting on September 25, 2021. Netflix International released each subtitled episode the week following the airing on Japanese TV starting on October 9, 2021. Regular TV broadcast began on October 2, 2021.
