Synopsis
Nen exists as a latent force within every person, capable of granting tremendous power to those who learn to wield it. This energy can lead to either boundless good or profound evil. The Hunter Association regulates the use of Nen to ensure it remains under control. Hunters, who follow various paths, all share the ability to tap into Nen for wealth, strength, or personal objectives. Isaac Netero, the most powerful and famous Hunter as well as the chairman of the Hunter Association, once incarcerated Jed—a Hunter who had mastered On, the dark side of Nen. Now, those who practice On have resurfaced in the Heaven's Arena tournament known as "Battle Olympia." For Netero, this becomes his ultimate mission: to safeguard the Hunter Association and the entire world from a menace driven by resentment and vengeance. Succeeding will require the combined efforts of many allies.
Background
The Last Mission is an original story and was not adapted from the Hunter x Hunter manga. It opened at #4 on the Japanese box office chart on December 28, 2013, and overall grossed a total of $7.38 million. The Last Mission was screened in the United States in July 26, 2014 at the Japan Film Festival of San Francisco.
