Osomatsu-kun (1988)

Synopsis

From the very first episode, the hijinks of the Matsuno sextuplets take a backseat to the colorful, buck-toothed con artist Iyami and his bald, diminutive sidekick Chibita. Nearly every episode unfolds as a standalone comedy parade featuring this duo along with other eccentric locals who pop up in various recurring roles, as the series effortlessly jumps between different time periods and genres. In most cases, Iyami and Chibita take center stage as partners in crime—a couple of down-on-their-luck schemers scraping by while carrying out shady scams in hopes of striking it rich.
