Synopsis

Starting at a new school in an unfamiliar place is daunting for many, especially the arduous task of building friendships anew. Bocchi Hitori, transitioning from elementary to middle school, understands this challenge firsthand. Her social anxiety is severe; she faints when overwhelmed, vomits when anxious, and concocts intricate plans to dodge social situations. Complicating things further, her sole friend from elementary school, Kai Yawara, is attending a different middle school. Kai, wishing to assist Bocchi, decides to cut ties until Bocchi forms friendships with everyone in her middle school class. Lacking self-assurance but driven by the desire to regain Kai’s friendship, Bocchi sets out to make friends with every student in her class. Despite her fears, she gathers her courage and begins with the seemingly tough girl sitting in front of her.
