Synopsis

In a world where beings called Crimson Denizens and Rinne infiltrate from another realm to feast on human life essence, Flame Hazes are appointed to safeguard the balance by eliminating these threats. Yuuji Sakai, oblivious to this covert conflict, lives a normal life until one day he witnesses everyone around him frozen in time. Amidst this surreal scene, a Rinne starts consuming the souls of the motionless individuals. Just as it zeroes in on Yuuji, a Flame Haze with vivid red hair appears, brandishing a katana to protect him. After restoring the disrupted timeline, she discloses that Yuuji's ability to move was due to his transformation into a Torch – the residual form of a deceased human doomed to eventual oblivion. Furthermore, he is identified as a Mystes, a rare Torch harboring a hidden treasure. Given that a Crimson Denizen will seek to snatch this treasure before Yuuji's flame dissipates, the Flame Haze decides to keep watch over him. Accepting his fate as a wandering specter, Yuuji resolves to cherish the remaining moments of his existence.
