Overlord II
オーバーロードⅡ
Synopsis
Continues the story of Overlord
As the popular virtual reality game Yggdrasil approaches its final shutdown, Momonga, a powerful wizard and leader of the dark guild Ainz Ooal Gown, resolves to remain logged in until the very last moment. When the countdown concludes, Momonga discovers he is still alive within his avatar's body, while the non-player characters around him have suddenly gained independent thoughts and actions. Confronted by this bizarre reality, Momonga commands his loyal NPCs to assist him in comprehending and dominating this new world. His primary objectives are to uncover the cause of this transformation and determine whether other players have also been transported here under similar conditions.
In this installment
In Overlord II, Ainz Ooal Gown, formerly known as Momonga, fully accepts his new reality within a world that closely resembles the virtual game Yggdrasil. Yet, many mysteries still linger, which he plans to solve by exercising his power as the ruler of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. After a calamitous incident involving the psychological manipulation of a subordinate, Ainz becomes increasingly wary of potential dangers, including the Slane Theocracy and other ex-Yggdrasil players. His loyal guardians, such as Albedo and Demiurge, prepare for Nazarick's impending major conflict, marking its first war. This sequel to the original Overlord continues the story of Ainz Ooal Gown and his unique cadre of human-hating guardians, alongside the innumerable humans affected by the Overlord's rise to power.
