Synopsis
In the neutral Side 6 colony cluster, ten-year-old Alfred Izuruha is captivated by the conflict between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon, much like other children his age. Unknown to him, his neighbor Christina is secretly test-piloting a Federation prototype Gundam within the colony. The Zeon Special Forces learn of this and deploy a squad to the colony with orders to either capture or destroy the Gundam. As fighting erupts between Federation and Zeon forces, Alfred accidentally comes across a crashed Zaku mobile suit and encounters its pilot, Zeon recruit Bernard "Bernie" Wiseman. Through this chance meeting, Alfred and Bernie forge a connection; Alfred gains a direct view of the war he has always been curious about, while Bernie uses the information Alfred supplies to assist his mission in the colony.
Background
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket was a project made to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the franchise. It marked the first time someone other than Yoshiyuki Tomino had directed a Gundam project, with Fumihiko Takayama acting as lead director.
