Synopsis
On Christmas Eve, while sifting through discarded items for gifts, Hana, Gin, and Miyuki stumble upon a newborn baby abandoned in the freezing night. Shocked by this tragic discovery, Hana's protective instincts drive her to find the baby's biological mother and uncover the truth. They name the infant Kiyoko, meaning pure child, and set out on a quest guided by limited clues: a puzzling key and a lone note. However, their mission grows more complicated as they face a series of unexpected events. Tokyo Godfathers follows the trio as they navigate various challenges, sticking together and striving to reunite Kiyoko with her rightful family while discovering their own personal Christmas miracles along the way.
Background
Tokyo Godfathers received an Excellence Prize at the 2003 Japan Media Arts Festival. It also won Best Animation Film at the 58th Mainichi Film Awards.
