Synopsis
Mahjong may be a pastime enjoyed by families and friends, but it also thrives in the underworld's most dangerous corners. Nangou, a gambler unable to control his compulsion, owes more than three million yen. In a final gamble to erase his debts, he stakes his very life on a mahjong match against the mafia. However, as the game unfolds, Nangou drifts further from winning and closer to his doom. Just when all appears lost, the parlor is barged into by Shigeru Akagi, a boy fleeing from the police. In desperation, Nangou passes the game to Akagi after giving him a quick rundown of the basics. The mafia sneers as the boy takes his seat. Yet they quickly discover that Akagi is a gambler born of pure instinct—a commanding presence unafraid of death, and one fated to become a legend.
