Beyond the Boundary: I'll Be Here - Past

Synopsis

In the first installment of a two-part film series, this segment revisits the events from the original television series. Mirai Kuriyama is the last remaining member of a warrior clan from the Spirit World, gifted with the ability to weaponize her own blood. Her mission is to hunt and eliminate "youmu," creatures born from negative human emotions. One day, while lost in thought on the school rooftop, she encounters Akihito Kanbara, a unique half-youmu in human form. Startled, she attacks him with her blood blade, only to discover he possesses immortality. Following this encounter, an unconventional friendship develops between them, marked by Mirai's repeated attempts to end Akihito's life, hoping to restore her dwindling confidence as a Spirit World warrior. Akihito eventually persuades her to join the Literary Club, where they are also joined by two other powerful warriors from the Spirit World, Hiroomi and Mitsuki Nase. As their bonds strengthen, the youmu around them grow increasingly aggressive. What begins as a series of ordinary adventures quickly escalates into a fight for survival as the awakening of the most powerful youmu, Beyond the Boundary, draws near without escape.
