Synopsis

In a Japan where terrorist incidents have significantly declined, the clandestine organization Direct Attack (DA) runs a critical operation. Through their "Lycoris" program, DA trains orphaned girls to become elite assassins. Takina Inoue, a Lycoris renowned for her rigid dedication to duty and perfect execution, hits a crisis when her patience snaps during a hostage rescue. This act of insubordination leads to her expulsion from DA, leaving her adrift and directionless before she is reassigned to LycoReco, a café operating as a cover. Her new partner, Chisato Nishikigi, a once-celebrated Lycoris prodigy, bewilders Takina with her laid-back approach to her duties. Chisato pulls Takina into various missions centered on helping people rather than eliminating targets. Even more confusing to Takina is Chisato's insistence on incapacitating foes without killing them. While Takina struggles to adjust to this unconventional method and yearns to return to DA, Chisato remains steadfast in her resolve to demonstrate that life offers more than simply completing assignments.
