Synopsis
Mitsuha Miyamizu, a high school girl, yearns to flee her quiet rural town for the electric atmosphere of Tokyo, a reality distant from her present life. Taki Tachibana, a city-dwelling student with dreams of becoming an architect, balances his academics and a part-time job within the urban bustle. Suddenly, Mitsuha finds herself inhabiting Taki's body in Tokyo, while Taki awakens in Mitsuha's body in the countryside. Motivated to unravel this bizarre phenomenon, they embark on a quest to locate one another. Their experiences of living each other's lives deeply influence their paths, intertwining their destinies through fate and serendipitous meetings.
Background
Kimi no Na wa. won the LAFCA Animation Award in 2016 and the Best Animated Film in 2017 by Mainichi Film Awards. It also won the Grand Prize Award on the 20th Japan Media Arts Festival.
