Your Name. Returns in 4K for 10th Anniversary Theatrical Run Aug. 14

A decade after it rewired global anime fandom, your name. is headed back to the big screen. GKIDS has put tickets on sale for a nationwide North American re-release of Makoto Shinkai’s CoMix Wave Films smash, opening August 14 in a new 4K remaster—available in both the original Japanese and the English dub.
The distributor also rolled out a fresh trailer ahead of the run. First released in Japan in August 2016, the body-swap romance still ranks as the highest-grossing original Japanese animated feature ever, with a worldwide haul past $400 million and a shelf full of awards from the Japan Academy to Sitges.
Shinkai’s later hits Weathering with You and Suzume cemented his stadium-scale brand of sky-kissed destinies, but your name. remains the film that made the leap from cult favorite to cultural event. Collectors get a parallel home-video push: a new 4K UHD Steelbook and Blu-ray land August 25, packed with interviews and behind-the-scenes extras.
For anyone who never caught Mitsuha and Taki’s comet-lit near-miss on a proper theater sound system—or simply wants to cry in 4K with a full house—the anniversary engagement is the invitation.
