Synopsis
Former star runner Kakeru Kurahara from Sendai Josei High School is caught shoplifting at a convenience store and flees, accidentally bumping into Haiji Kiyose, another university student who notices Kakeru’s quick reflexes. Haiji convinces Kakeru to join him at Chikusei-sou, a rundown apartment building shared by nine other students. After losing his entire apartment deposit at a mahjong parlor, Kakeru has no choice but to accept Haiji’s offer. At the welcome party for Kakeru, Haiji reveals that the apartment is actually the dormitory of the Kansei University Track Club. Haiji dreams of competing in the Hakone Ekiden, one of Japan’s most prestigious university marathon relay races. However, besides Haiji and Kakeru, none of the other residents have any running experience, and they are uninterested in Haiji’s ambitious plan. With only a few months until the race, can Haiji convince his reluctant roommates to join him and make his dream a reality?
