Summary
Benten serves as Lum’s most devoted companion and closest friend within the Galaxy. Her name is derived from Benzaiten, a Shinto goddess associated with knowledge, art, and beauty, who is one of the Shichifukujin, or Seven Lucky Gods. Portrayed as a rugged space biker chick, she dons a plate-mail bikini and sports a butch haircut while riding a flying alien chopper through the sky. Benten is known for her foul mouth, often cursing like a longshoreman, and she is armed with a high-tech bazooka. Despite her tough exterior, she is smart, easygoing, and possesses a sharp wit. She also holds a strong sense of honor and is always ready to assist Lum whenever she finds herself in a difficult situation.
