Summary
Haruna Sakurada, known as Patricia Haruna in the English dub, serves as the junior high school teacher for Usagi Tsukino. She maintains a youthful demeanor throughout all versions of the series, though her personality shifts slightly between the anime and manga adaptations. In these versions, she has long brown hair and can be quite strict, particularly when Usagi’s laziness causes trouble. However, she is also lovesick and obsessed with finding a husband, making her an easy target for the Dark Kingdom during the first series. Like many minor characters, she fades into the background as the story progresses and vanishes entirely when the Senshi leave middle school. Her name contains the kanji for "cherry blossom," "rice field," "spring," and "vegetables." The "spring" component of her name forms a pun in other works by Naoko Takeuchi, where Haruna appears briefly in The Cherry Project alongside her sister Fuyuna. Two other characters with similar names appear in Takeuchi’s works: Natsuna in Codename: Sailor V and Akina in PQ Angels. The Japanese words fuyu, natsu, and aki correspond to "winter," "summer," and "autumn."
