Mew
Summary
Mew is a pink, bipedal Pokémon with mammalian characteristics, featuring a rounded snout, triangular ears, and large blue eyes. It possesses short arms ending in three-fingered paws and large hind paws marked with oval patterns on the soles. Its long, thin tail ends in an ovoid tip, and its fur is so fine and thin that it can only be seen under a microscope. Mew displays a playful, childish, and shy personality, yet it is highly intelligent, curious, and selfless. Said to contain the DNA of every single Pokémon, scientists theorize Mew is the ancestor of all Pokémon. It is incredibly adaptable, capable of levitation, teleportation, and using almost all known moves regardless of type. Mew can also transform into any known Pokémon and make itself invisible at will to avoid detection. It can generate protective energy orbs in various colors like green, yellow, and pink. Journals in Kanto's Pokémon Mansion indicate that Professor Oak discovered Mew in a jungle and named it. Using Mew's DNA, Oak created a modified clone intended to be the most powerful Pokémon, resulting in the birth of the Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo. Because Mew can turn invisible, many scientists declared it extinct or a mirage, though sightings continue to confirm its existence. It will reveal itself to those who are pure of heart and desire to see it. According to the radio drama The Birth of Mewtwo, Mew was discovered by Miyamoto, Oak's mother, who recorded its cry in a forest twenty years prior to the series. Ancient people worshiped Mew, believing it appeared annually with the rising sun. It was rediscovered eighteen years after Miyamoto's initial encounter on a mountain peak. In the episode In the Palms of our Hands! (JN134), Mew demonstrated the ability to split and transform into multiple Pokémon simultaneously. It also shares a strong rivalry with Mewtwo, as depicted in Mewtwo Strikes Back (M01).
