Summary
Angol Moa, known as the King of Terror, is a ditzy and insecure alien sent to Earth in July 1999 to destroy the planet, a date predicted by Nostradamus. Acting on orders from her father, she claims to have instructed Nostradamus to warn humanity of her arrival. In the anime adaptation, she arrives five hundred years early, sleeping in orbit until waking in 2004, five years past the deadline. Conversely, the manga depicts her landing near Fuyuki, while the anime has her crash into Giroro’s tent. Regardless of the timeline, she is taken in by the Hinata family, where Natsumi nurses her back to health. Upon awakening, she reveals her true form and begins her mission, but is stopped by Keroro after Fuyuki persuades him to intervene. The Angols utilize seemingly magical technology to conquer worlds, and Moa wields the Lucifer Spear, which resembles a cellphone when inactive. During her attack, Hellmageddon, it transforms into a golden staff featuring a crescent moon and a meteor, with the latter end initiating the destructive blast. Moa maintains a close friendship with Keroro, addressing him as oji-sama, or uncle. She is fiercely protective of him; any attempt to harm him triggers a transformation where she unleashes a diluted version of Hellmageddon, often inadvertently catching Keroro and others in the blast. Tamama frequently rivals her for Keroro’s attention and affection. Her stylized transformation sequences, costume, and accessories serve as a parody of the magical girl genre. In the anime, her Pekopon form wears a hair clip shaped like the Science Patrol’s Ryuusei-mark, distinct from the Ultra Garrison-mark worn by the girl whose appearance she mimics. Her name is often associated with puns on moe-moe, referring to cute girls appealing to older audiences. To blend in, she adopts the look of a tanned, bleached-blonde kogal in a school uniform and loose socks. Her true form features pale gray hair and a purple-and-white magical girl outfit. Despite her title, she is sweet, clumsy, and peppy, though she can be terrifying in her Angol form. Her human appearance was inspired by different events depending on the medium. In the anime, she witnessed a teenage girl named Masami fighting thugs to protect her friends, admiring her courage and choosing that look. In the manga, she observed a girl shaking off her subordinate, deciding to emulate her selfishness after her father advised her to focus only on herself during the mission.
