Sgt. Frog Invades Theaters: 20th Anniversary Film Drops Opening Scene

The long-awaited 20th anniversary Sgt. Frog feature film has given fans an early taste of the action with the official release of its opening scene on YouTube. The footage leans into classic vibes, mixing in 4:3 aspect ratio clips that echo the original 2004 anime while setting up the platoon’s latest chaotic return to Earth.
Titled Shin Gekijōban Keroro Gunsō: Fukkatsu Shite Sokkō Chikyū Metsubō no Kiki de Arimasu!, the movie opens nationwide in Japan on June 26. It marks the first new Sgt. Frog theatrical release in 16 years and reunites the core voice cast for the big-screen invasion.
Yuichi Fukuda serves as supervising director and screenwriter, bringing his signature comedy style from live-action hits like the Gintama films. Anime direction comes from Fumitoshi Oizaki with character design by Satoshi Koike at BN Pictures. New characters Aruru and Deruru are both voiced by Jesse from SixTONES, while ano and Soshina handle key theme songs and appear in guest roles.
Alongside the film, a brand-new Sgt. Frog TV anime with a fresh cast is slated for fall 2026, expanding the franchise’s milestone celebrations. The opening scene serves as both a loving callback and a hype-builder for what promises to be a high-energy, gag-packed return for the frog-shaped invaders.
