In "Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho," the young Jinta and Suzune flee their home and are taken in by Motoharu, the righteous protector of Kadono Village, along with his daughter Shirayuki. The village is governed by the shrine maiden Itsukihime, who is only approachable by a select few. After Itsukihime dies, Shirayuki inherits her position. Wanting to remain near her, Jinta devotes himself to training and eventually becomes the new village guardian.
As the village's defender, Jinta is responsible for eliminating all threats. On one such assignment, he battles a demon in the forest. Following the fight, the demon—declaring itself the destined sovereign of all demons—attaches its severed arm to Jinta, transforming him into an immortal demon. When he regains consciousness, Jinta finds Kadono Village engulfed in flames. Suzune, now the demon foretold in ancient prophecies, has murdered Shirayuki due to a series of misunderstandings and has fled.
Overcome with sorrow and unable to accept Suzune's actions, Jinta sets out to hunt her down. Journeying across Japan through various historical eras, Jinta strives to protect as many people as he can from demonic dangers. During quiet moments, he ponders how he will face his childhood friend when they finally meet again.
