Synopsis
An isolated exchange student encounters a dancer and becomes deeply enamored with her. A woman descends into insanity upon discovering that her beloved intends to return to his homeland to build his future. The youthful wanderings set against 19th-century Berlin. The celebrated Meiji-era novel by Mori Ogai, "Maihime (The Dancing Girl)," is adapted by Ga-nime "School Girl" producer Oku Shutaro, who displays his illustrative skill and entrusts Ms. Furuya Akisa with the booklets, slide presentations, and animation for this Ga-nime. Against the backdrop of a foreign land, we experience all the melancholic and lyrical emotions of this graceful tale as a breeze of fresh artistic imagery breathes life into it.
