Synopsis
Deceived by a trusted friend into signing a binding agreement, Shin Kazama is conscripted as a fighter pilot within the mercenary forces engaged in Aslan’s civil war. Driven by the goal of accumulating sufficient funds to buy out his contract and return to Japan, Shin has risen to become one of the most deadly avians stationed at the hazardous base known as Area 88. However, after enduring an existence where death is a constant threat, he must confront the question of whether he can still reintegrate into civilian society as the same person if he ever succeeds in leaving.
Background
Area 88 was published by Central Park Media as three VHS tapes and laserdiscs in 1992. In 2000, the first two episodes were released on DVD. In 2006, ADV Films acquired the license and released a DVD version of the OVA edited into two long episodes. Discotek Media published a remaster of Area 88 on DVD on October 30, 2018.
