Synopsis
Mekakucity Days is made up of music videos that tell the stories of several Mekakushi-dan members. In the oppressive summer heat, Hibiya Amamiya finds each day terribly boring. While on a park swing, he meets Hiyori Asahina, who is softly petting a cat. When the cat suddenly runs off, Hiyori ends up in serious danger, leading Hibiya to vow he will do everything he can to protect her. News arrives that the world is coming to an end. During the chaos, Takane Enomoto hears a voice through her headphones asking if she wants to survive. She does as the voice says, but finds that being saved might not be as simple as she expected. Mari Kozakura, with her noticeable red eyes and white hair, is treated like a monster by others. She wants to leave her isolated life in the forest but does not have the courage. Her loneliness begins to shift when someone unexpectedly knocks at her door. Konoha, who resembles an android, has forgotten most of his memories. He still feels a sense of longing but does not know where it comes from. He does remember a summer event where a boy and a girl face a disaster, but his desperate efforts to change the outcome are useless. Shintarou Kisaragi has a photographic memory, letting him predict everyday events with accuracy. He knows he will get perfect scores on his exams and expects Ayano Tateyama, sitting next to him, to fail. Despite his intelligence, he finds life dull until Ayano does something that deeply impacts Shintarou, possibly breaking through his apathy.
