Synopsis
In the year 2020, a country is under constant threat from the "Others," mysterious monsters that descend from the sky and prey on human brains. Around the same time, psionics—a hormone granting certain individuals extrasensory abilities effective against these creatures—is discovered within the human body. In response, the nation's founder establishes the Other Suppression Force (OSF) to fight the monsters and protect humanity. Known as the Scarlet Guardians, young people with psionics undergo rigorous training to join this organization. One day, the nation holds an induction ceremony for the exceptional recruits who have completed the demanding training to become Scarlet Guardians. Among these elite young individuals is Yuito Sumeragi, the determined son of the nation's founder. At age five, he was rescued by a woman from the OSF, and he joins the organization to repay that debt, eager to apply his training. As he meets his new comrades, he encounters a major issue—the woman who saved him years ago bears a striking resemblance to one of his teammates. However, this is the least of his concerns, as a conspiracy capable of shaking the entire country is brewing, unbeknownst to him.
Background
Scarlet Nexus is inspired by the Japanese action role-playing game developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Tose of the same name. Published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, the game was released just prior to the airing of the television series on June 25, 2021 for Windows, PlayStation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
