Synopsis
Following the release of the revolutionary NerveGear device, gamers worldwide gained the ability to fully immerse themselves within virtual reality. One of its most popular titles is Sword Art Online (SAO), which transports players into the expansive, medieval world of Aincrad, where they can explore limitless possibilities constrained only by their imagination. With the game's global launch, virtual reality gaming reached unprecedented levels of realism. This ideal fantasy quickly transforms into a terrifying nightmare when SAO's creator traps thousands of players within the game. The logout function has been deactivated, and the only method to escape is by completing all one hundred increasingly dangerous floors of Aincrad. Compounding this, dying in the game results in real-world death. Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya, who previously participated in the beta test, discovers that even his experience is insufficient to face SAO alone. Partnering with Asuna Yuuki and other skilled players, he strives to overcome the seemingly impossible challenges ahead. Yet, with formidable bosses and malevolent dark cults obstructing their progress, Kirito realizes that surmounting these obstacles proves far more difficult than anticipated.
