Penanpe and Pananpe: The Sea Lion's Lice

Synopsis

Pananpe went to the shore, tricked a sea lion, and obtained some tasty meat. After finding out about this, Penanpe attempted to copy Pananpe's action.

Background

The Ainu people are indigenous to the Hokkaido region of Japan. Their tales have been passed town by word of mouth since ancient times. With the help of current researchers, these tales have been reimagined in a modern context, in the form of animation, commissioned by The Foundation for Ainu Culture.
