Continues the story of Pochitto Hatsumei: Pikachin-Kit
In this prequel episode that aired prior to the main series, protagonist Eiji puts together a pair of "cunninglasses" to decipher a note from a classmate, which reveals the name of the boy she likes. Eventually, he finds the final component needed to activate the glasses and learns that her note actually reads, "Eiji is rather odd."
In this installment
A fifth-grade boy named Eiji Tōmatsu and his "inspiration" companion, a dog called Pochirou. One day, Eiji discovers a mysterious volume titled the "Pikachin Research Book" and learns about the seven implements that constitute the Pikachin Kit. When Eiji presses a button inside the research book, a "Future Amazon" delivery instantly arrives at his doorstep with the kit. Following the blueprints included in the package, Eiji puts the kit together, but it appears that 1% of the kit is still missing. Within the franchise, the term "Pikachin" refers to the spark of inspiration or insight one receives for a new project, akin to the image of a lightbulb illuminating above someone's head when they have an idea. The franchise's core concept is "invention is 99% plastic models, 1% inspiration."
