Synopsis
Clara goes to see her Aunt Gerda and Uncle Drosselmeyer. Her aunt tells her frightening tales about the Ragman, a creepy, enigmatic figure who turns children into mice if they do not go to bed on time. The Ragman constantly watches over sleeping children, searching for more victims. Right before Clara heads to bed, her eccentric uncle gives her a wooden nutcracker doll. He feels a bit sheepish because only the heart on the doll is perfect, but Clara adores her new present. She falls asleep, then awakens to the sound of mice squeaking.
