In a series of events where people are turning into demons, surveillance footage shows a suspect who looks exactly like the male protagonist. The female protagonist, carrying a summons from the underworld, captures him and delivers him to the Black and White Impermanence for trial. To prove his innocence, the male protagonist tricks her into investigating the cases more thoroughly. As they dig deeper into the mystery, they uncover a larger plot behind the human-to-demon transformations, including a connection between the culprit and the male protagonist, revealing that a mysterious figure is pulling the strings from the shadows.
