Wolf Smoke Studio

The narrative is set in a small Chinese town circa 1930. During this chaotic era, Yueyue refuses to accept that his mother has vanished from his existence. He holds onto the memory of her promise to return for him, and thus embarks on a journey to locate her.

Every character in this film represents a distinct symbolic meaning. While chasing the white bird, the protagonist must confront his own guilt, fear, and confusion; after a difficult journey of searching, he is ultimately reborn. The film was shown at the Annecy International Film Festival in June 2017, and later had its commercial release in China in April 2018.

A famished young traveler reaches a Chinese town and goes to the food street to satisfy his hunger. The street is packed with stalls, but two stand out because their cooks are attractive, provocatively dressed women: one a brunette Chinese, the other a blonde Westerner. Both eagerly try to get him to taste their dishes (Chinese and Western) and argue that their cooking is superior. Reluctantly, the guy gets caught in the middle of a dispute that escalates into a Kung-Fu battle between the two women, though all he wants is to eat something, anything.
