On the outskirts of the city, Liang Xigua, a down-on-his-luck young man, finds his old refrigerator unexpectedly transforming into a human-like being and working its way into his daily life. The two of them go through a series of funny and tough everyday situations, bickering over food and money troubles, yet pulling each other through hard times. As Xigua deals with these strange events, he comes to realize that his case isn't unique—other people's household appliances have come to life too.
