Rock'n Roll Mountain

The narrative is set in August 1987 and centers on a single day during which Tokko is left home alone in a large house while her family is away.

Bored teenagers seeking thrills often find themselves drawn to rock 'n roll. Despite having no talent, money, or even a complete drum kit, a feared trio of high school delinquents decide they are fated for musical greatness—all in an effort to impress their sole friend Aya, dodge a rival gang, and, most importantly, just jam out. Animated almost entirely by director Kenji Iwaisawa and featuring lead vocals from Japanese alt-rock legend Shintaro Sakamoto, ON-GAKU: OUR SOUND brings its own unique audio and visual style to the Hiroyuki Oohashi manga it adapts. With pitch-perfect deadpan humor, the film offers a highly original spin on the beloved slacker comedy: a lo-fi buddy movie with a blaring musical finale that will leave you craving an immediate encore.

Togashi is known as the fastest runner at his elementary school, especially in the hundred-meter dash during gym class and sports day. But without any real rivals, he feels unchallenged. That changes when Komiya transfers in—a student who loves running but lacks proper technique. Togashi seizes the chance to coach him, and the two quickly bond over their shared passion for speed. Their friendship is cut short when Komiya unexpectedly transfers away. Despite the separation, both continue honing their running skills over the years, each facing their own obstacles. They push their limits, questioning whether Togashi's belief that being the fastest in the hundred-meter dash can solve everything still holds true.
