In a futuristic Japan, androids are widely used for various tasks, but treating them as equals to humans is considered unacceptable. There is a lingering fear that these machines might rebel against their human creators, resulting in criticism and the labeling of those who show too much trust in androids as "dori-kei" or "android-holics."
Rikuo Sakisaka, a high school student, notices strange behavior from his family's android, Sammy—she goes out without being told. After checking her activity logs, Rikuo finds a puzzling message: "Are you enjoying the time of EVE?" With help from his friend Masakazu Masaki, Rikuo follows Sammy's trips to a café called Time of Eve, where discrimination between customers is not allowed. At this place, Rikuo sees both humans and androids existing together without any visible differences.
The café has a varied group of customers, each with their own stories and problems, including the lively Akiko and a malfunctioning robot. As Rikuo works to understand Sammy's motives, he begins to question the widespread fear that makes humans see androids only as tools.
