As a result of the 2008 financial crisis, numerous Chinese factories shut down, leaving Zhang Xiaojun jobless after he worked at a shoe factory. A supermarket security guard falsely accuses Zhang of shoplifting and assaults him. When Zhang attempts to claim financial compensation from the supermarket manager, his efforts come to nothing. His wish is to return to his hometown and start farming, but just before he can leave, the police detain him. Meanwhile, the supermarket manager confronts his own troubles. Under the full moon, their fates cross again at a teahouse near the city wall.
