Reign: The Conqueror, also known as Alexander Senki, is a Japanese anime that debuted in 1999. It reimagines the life of Alexander the Great, drawing from Hiroshi Aramata's novel. Conceived as a groundbreaking international project, the series tapped into the global adult animation talent pool. Character and setting designs were handled by Peter Chung, the Korean-American creator of Aeon Flux, while much of the production was carried out by Korean animators.

In 356 BC, Alexander the Great arrives in Greece, carrying a grim prophecy that he is fated to become the "destroyer of the world." After ascending to the throne of Macedonia, he embarks on a fast and unyielding campaign of conquest. His journey brings him face to face with his destined enemy, Darius III, igniting a war against the Persian Empire. This conflict triggers Alexander's metamorphosis into the demon foretold, condemning everyone in his way—and perhaps even himself—to ruin.
