The story of this heartwarming anime centers on the two title characters, Escha and Chron, whose personalities are as different as the sun and the moon. Both women come from a future post-apocalyptic world called Terminal, which is barren and devoid of color. They cross between worlds and end up in the present day, which they refer to as Transit. While Escha and Chron take in the light of the scenery and the sounds of music from the real world, the future world of Terminal slowly transforms into a more vibrant place.

"Wake Up, Girls!" follows seven young women from Sendai, Miyagi who form the idol group "Wake Up, Girls! (WUG)" with the goal of reaching the top of the idol world. Supported by the small Sendai-based agency "Green Leaves Entertainment," WUG overcame numerous challenges and achieved victory over the national idol collective "I-1 club" at the Idol Festival, securing their success. However, this triumph did not simplify their path, as the shrinking idol market created new difficulties. The members remained dedicated and continued their daily efforts as idols. Meanwhile, three middle school students from Sendai—Hayashi Ayumi, Morishima Otome, and Atsugi Itsuka—developed an increasingly strong desire to become idols themselves.

Ritsuka Tachibana leads a peaceful and ordinary life until her brother Lindo returns from his studies in the United Kingdom. The calm is soon disrupted when Rem Kaginuki, the head of Shikou Academy's student council, comes to see her, sparking strange encounters with the council's other members. Despite these odd occurrences, Ritsuka believes her everyday life will eventually return to normal. Everything changes when she comes home to find her mother unconscious and hooded figures lurking nearby. These beings are not ordinary humans but devils, vampires, and exorcists, all searching for the Forbidden Grimoire. As her ordinary world collapses, Ritsuka finds comfort and support in Rem amid the chaos. Meanwhile, her brother Lindo conceals a mysterious dark secret that only deepens the complications. In "Wake Up, Girls!," Green Leaves Entertainment is barely scraping by due to a critical shortage of talent. To reverse their fortunes, President Junko Tange decides to break into the idol singer market and orders her subordinate Matsuda to form a girl group, no matter how much effort it takes. Since no ready-made groups are available, Matsuda takes on the tough job of scouting girls with promise who aren't already part of the Japanese music scene. Her recruits include a maid café worker, a lead vocalist who was kicked out of another band, and a young teenager barely thirteen years old. Although they start far from being established stars, the group hopes to rise through pure dedication and passion. Among them are Hanabi Tenka, known for her blazing fast offensive style; Hokuto Itsumo, who excels at predicting where the ball will go; Agari Kamiya, famous for her distinctive backhand smash; vice-captain Mune Oomune, who plays with a bold, aggressive approach; and captain Kiruka Ushirode, whose defense is impenetrable. Despite their skill, they have only competed at the city level. Their fortunes change when transfer student Koyori Tsumujikaze joins them. They take on a range of tasks, from encouraging a fujoshi to sell doujinshi at Comiket to joining an idol group, as long as these activities comply with their ethical standards. Despite their imperfections, they approach their responsibilities with sincerity and unwavering enthusiasm, always working diligently to support others to the fullest extent possible.

As the idol group Wake Up, Girls begins gaining popularity, they encounter a series of obstacles that challenge their determination. Members Mayu, Airi, Minami, Yoshino, Nanami, Kaya, and Miyu must deal with the uncertainty caused by their inexperienced manager, Matsuda, who leaves them vulnerable to shady individuals. The situation gets worse when Green Leaves' president disappears with most of the company's funds, and their new producer focuses on provocative swimwear instead of advancing their music career. With rumors about Mayu's past connection to a rival group spreading and internal conflicts threatening to tear the group apart, their success depends on their own ambition as well as the strength of their bonds and their shared passion for music.

The group heads to a trendy attraction, specifically a live-action escape game. Players must split into pairs and select a door to enter in order to complete the mission. It all seems like harmless fun. But it is actually a scheme aimed at Nyaruko.
