The narrative revolves around the seven-sister group known as "Komekami! Girls," who are the offspring of the rice deity, originating from the proverb: "Seven gods dwell in one grain of rice." After their mother, the rice goddess or rice-god queen, is abruptly summoned back to the heavens and cannot return to the mortal realm, the sisters set out on a journey to locate her. Using Usa City in Oita Prefecture as their home base, they visit various Hachiman shrines across Kyushu island. Along the way, they resolve local issues, discover culinary traditions, take part in cooking contests, and develop both individually and as a group.
