In the year 2062, Earth is locked in a desperate struggle against Artemis, an artificial intelligence that turned against its creators following the failure of a large-scale automation project years ago. To counter this conflict, an elite squad of warriors known as the Human Guardians was formed. As the sole survivor of this unit, Empress awakens in an abandoned research center, completely isolated. Her only remaining memory is of a place called Lighthouse No. 8. Setting out to uncover the truth of her past, she soon discovers the immense threat posed by Artemis and realizes she is the only hope to prevent worldwide destruction.

In "My Home Hero," Tetsuo Tosu's life takes a grim turn when he discovers his daughter, Reika, has become a victim of domestic violence. His suspicions point toward her yakuza boyfriend, Nobuto Matori. Determined to find the truth, Tetsuo investigates Nobuto and his associates, only to uncover evidence suggesting Reika is far from the first to suffer from Nobuto's violent tendencies and that she faces an even darker future. While searching Reika's apartment, Tetsuo is caught by Nobuto, leading to a confrontation in which Tetsuo kills him. With his wife's help, Tetsuo hides the body to avoid retaliation from the yakuza. Their situation worsens when they learn Nobuto is the son of the syndicate's leader. As the prime suspects in Nobuto's disappearance, Tetsuo and his wife must use every ounce of their resourcefulness to protect Reika from the yakuza's relentless pursuit.
