The Apostles, a group of Diffriders originating from Planet Cray, descend upon Earth. Gyze, known as the Dragon Deity of Destruction, is an entity that annihilates all in its path. These Apostles, aiming to resurrect Gyze, wield the power of the six Zeroth Dragons and launch an assault on Earth.

Chrono Shindou, Shion Kiba, and Tokoha Anjou, the three members of Team TRY3, each move forward into their respective high schools. Every member forms their own team in order to decide their own future. The trio of protagonists are destined to collide as rivals in the upcoming large-scale tournament known as the U20 Championship.

The story centers on Sendou Aichi, a quiet third-year middle school student. Aichi's outlook was brightened by the "Blaster Blade" card he received as a child—a highly valued rare card from "Vanguard," a game set in the fictional world of "Planet Cray." His life changes when he reunites with Toshiki Kai, the person who originally gave him the card.

In their final year of middle school, the five members of the band CRYCHIC went through a painful breakup. Each of them carried their own regrets and went off to different high schools, trying to stay away from one another. Anon Chihaya transfers into Haneoka Girls' Academy halfway through the year, where a lot of students play in bands as a hobby. Anon wants to be part of this trend and pictures herself as a vocalist. As she tries to put together band members, she becomes friends with Tomori Takamatsu, a quiet girl who seems interested but unsure about joining. Anon doesn't know that Tomori used to be in CRYCHIC and still has emotional wounds from that time. Tomori introduces Anon to Taki Shiina and Soyo Nagasaki, who were also in CRYCHIC. Taki doesn't want to play music with Anon, but Soyo is encouraging and willing to help. With Soyo's support, Anon's dream of starting a band gets closer to coming true—if she can just find a couple more members.
