Marronnier Kingdom Unlocks Seven Knight Voices, First Promo, October 3

Nao Iwamoto's long-running josei fantasy is finally putting voices to its famously nicknamed princes. The official site for The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom has unveiled the main cast, a key visual of the brothers against their walled capital, and the first promotional video, locking a Saturday premiere on October 3 at 6:25 p.m. on NHK E-Tele.

Kengo Takanashi headlines as sleepless eldest brother Nemukunai, with Makoto Tanikawa as his twin Hakuai. Haruki Ishiya and Satoshi Inomata play heat-hating Atsugariya and cold-shy Samugariya; Kiyoto Mizuno, Taishi Murata, and Reiji Kawashima complete the set as beast-talker Kemonotsukai, sword-proud Kenjiman, and bottomless Harapeko. Akeno Watanabe voices their mother, General Baribara, the warrior who will send all seven out as ambassadors, while Show Hayami narrates.

J.C.Staff is producing under director Kiyoko Sayama, with series composition and scripts from Shinzo Fujita, character designs by Yuriko Maeda, sound direction by Jin Aketagawa, and a score from Yoshiaki Fujisawa. The first promo opens on Baribara asking her sons what cause they mean to serve — their shared, stubborn answer being that they will one day rescue a princess in style.

Iwamoto has been serializing the medieval-flavored romance in Shogakukan's Monthly Flowers since 2016, following her film-adapted Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom. Volume 11 arrived in June. Landlocked Marronnier sits at the center of eight nations; once the brothers ride out, each becomes the lead of his own country, court, and love story.
