Born in Hokkaido in 1987, Ryousuke Nanasaki is an LGBT advocate and activist whose essays have exerted a significant influence throughout Japan. His primary objective is to establish a society where marriage is accessible to everyone. Following his high school graduation, he relocated to Tokyo. In September 2015, he established the Edogawa LGBT Community alongside his husband, with whom he had previously signed a partnership certificate. In April 2016, Nanasaki launched Juerias LGBT Wedding, a wedding planning firm dedicated to serving the community. Undeterred by obstacles, he remains committed to ensuring that LGBT individuals receive the weddings they dream of and the recognition they deserve. His efforts reached a historic milestone in October 2016 when he and his husband were officially recognized by the sect at Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple, marking the first religiously sanctioned same-sex wedding in Japanese history.
